WVSILC has four 1-bedroom units on the second floor, near St. Albans, and on the busline. People with disabilities are encouraged to apply and will be given preferential treatment when occupancy decisions are made, keeping in line with our mission, vision, and values.
We are dedicated to making accessible housing & transportation available to everyone who needs it. We purchased this building primarily to give the Council an operating base sufficient to be able to perform the duties of the Council. Although these units are not wheelchair accessible, plans are in underway to bring wheelchair accessible housing to communities across WV. Stay tuned...
Thank you for your interest in our rental units! Please read and understand our policies, procedures and qualifications.
Each person over the age of 18 who will be living in the home must complete and submit a separate application and processing fee. To qualify, each person must meet or exceed the minimum standards for qualification. Once these qualifications standards are met, you will be invited, by email, to submit your information for a background check. The $42 processing fee will be collected at the time of the background check.
Deposit to Hold
After approval, if tenant will not be taking occupancy within 24 hours, a non-refundable Deposit to Hold in the amount equal to one month’s rent will be required within 24 hours to hold the property until a mutually agreed upon move-in date. The maximum amount of time a rental will be held is 14 days. After all move-in requirements have been met and a lease for the property completed, the Deposit to Hold will transfer to the security deposit to be held throughout the tenant’s entire tenancy. If the Prospective Tenant fails to provide the Deposit to Hold within 24 hours of approval, the home will be offered to the next qualified applicant.
The lease outlines our policies in detail, so we ask every tenant to become familiar with them to avoid a phone call or worse, termination of tenancy.
We do allow pets in select properties with a non-refundable pet fee and a modest increase in rent depending on the number and type of pet, with a maximum of 2 pets. Smoking is prohibited in all of our properties.
After approval and before occupancy will be granted, Prospective Tenant must supply all the required move-in funds, including the security deposit, first and last month’s rent, and any other additional deposits and fees.
All tenant paid utilities must be transferred into Prospective Tenant’s name, and a lease must be executed and signed by all parties.
Prospective Tenant must also obtain a renter’s insurance policy and provide evidence of such.
We are pleased you are considering making your home with us. A quick list of our qualifying standards to rent a home are listed below or can be downloaded by clicking the link.
In the event of multiple applicants, tenancy will be granted to the most qualified based on these standards.
